Kings Court Pastry Boutique cookies are going to the Olympics!!!!
A little piece of Clarington and a whole lot of heart is heading to the Olympic Games in Vancouver, disguised as custom made sugar cookies, or more affectionately know as ‘Race Cookies’. Saturday, they will make their way to the bottom of the snowboarding hill and be presented to one of the worlds best and local snowboarding sensation, Matt Morison.
The journey of the Race Cookies started when Deb Patrick walked into Kings Court Pastry Boutique in Bowmanville and asked if pastry chef, Lisa Schroeder, known for her custom made cookies, could make 5 dozen of them, especially for Matt. “Game On!” replied Lisa and asked Deb, ‘Why cookies?’ The story Deb told was amazing.
“Well, I have known Matt since he was about 12. He boarded with a bunch of local kids, including my daughter Meghan. All of us mothers affectionately became known as ‘The Pot Luck Mom’s’. We would all make sure that the kids were looked after and would take turns feeding them lunch after boarding. After lunch, they would get cookies we had made. Race cookies. After Matt made the National Team, we became the World Cup Pot Luckers!" said Deb, smiling at the memory. “So, when we decided to go out to Vancouver I though, why not take some Race Cookies with me and give them to Matt and his friends at the medal ceremony at the bottom of the hill on Saturday!”
Incredible. Truly incredible!
I have to tell you, this has been one jam packed action filled month, not only from a business point of view but personally as well! In one month we placed second in the Polar Chili competition, catered to rock star extrodinare, Steven Page and now our custom made sugar cookies are headed to the Olympics in Vancouver to be presented to snowboarder Matt Morison at the bottom of a mountain. Hopefully, he will have a cookie in one hand and a gold medal in the other!!! GO MATT GO!!!
Until next time!
